I really can't find anything bad to say about this movie except that I would have preferred a little change in the ending, but I can't go into that without spoilers so I will let it be. The writing and acting are wonderful. It's surprisingly funny film but still you get to care for the characters. I know westerns are expensive to produce and are considered a little cheesy in the overly pretentous hollywood scene, but I really love them and wish they would make a few more if they would make them like this one. By that I mean we need more westerns where it looks like the actors actually have sat on a horse for more than 5 minutes in their lives before the filming started. Seeing one of the current crop of Hollywood pretty boys (yes, you Brad and Matt) trying to handle a horse with "Stop horsey...STOP PLEASE!" written all over their faces during a scene completely blows a film. Russell Crowe rides like he's had a lifetime of using equine transportation and the other actors look more comfortable than usual also.
It's an all around great entertainment for adults. There is a little too much violence for the kids, but both men and women should enjoy it immensely. I'm looking forward to getting it on DVD.
