1-800-Flowers.com —

I have used 1-800-flowers.com many times to order flowers for different occasions.  There are some really beautiful arrangements to choose from.  The prices aren't that bad either.  They run some pretty good sales fairly often.

The flowers have always been fresh and arranged beautifully, except for the last time I ordered from them.  I especially love the birthday cake shaped flower arrangement.  I have ordered this a few times and have gotten many compliments on it.  I have also referred other people to the site just to order the birthday cake shaped arrangement.

The last order I placed with 1-800-flowers.com was for my grandmother.  It was a surprise thank you for her.  At the time they were running a deal on mini roses, buy a dozen get a dozen free.  That sounded perfect!  A dozen free flowers, what a wonderful deal.  Who wouldn't love to get TWO dozens roses, and as a surprise!  My grandmother called when immediately after they were delivered.  She was overjoyed and very surprised!  The only problem was that half of the flowers were almost dead.  I know I got a dozen free, but I had no idea that would mean they would also be half dead!  I contacted the website and was told they'd send out two dozen FRESH flowers for the inconvenience.  I thought that was a nice gesture.  My grandmother was excited that she'd get even more flowers.  She said she'd probably have to start giving them away because her house would be filled with all of these mini roses.  The next problem:  The replacement roses never came.  I originally had them delivered to my grandmother at work, knowing there would be someone there at all times to be able to accept the delivery.  I emailed them again and never received a reply.  I called and was told they didn't have record that a replacement was to be sent out.  By that time I was pretty embarrassed that my grandmother had gotten half-dead flowers and then she waited for live ones that never came.  I was told there was nothing they could do because it had been about a month and since they didn't have record that a replacement was to be sent, I wasn't eligible for a refund.

Maybe this was a one-time misunderstanding, but I haven't ordered from them since.  That was probably close to a year ago.  I will probably try them again in the future, when I need to have flowers delivered, but will be really hesitant to do so.

Mandigirl they did me a bad turn as well, ruined my Valentines day and then could not get thru to cust. service phone for 2 days. They picked up right away when you called the 'order line' though, but then they just transferred you to the other line, waited more than an hour on hold once. Pitiful service. Proflowers is my new flower vendor now, they are great, even when there is a problem they FIX IT.

It is easy to remember 1800flowers when you need to send something to a loved one, but you get the best value when you take the time to order directly from a local florist in the recipients' area. You may not realize this, but 1800flowers has a network of individual florists in which they gather orders and forward them to shops who are willing pay 1800flowers 30% of the total for each received order on top of service charges just for being in the network. There is almost nothing left for the florist in the end so corners have to be cut to make ends. When you order directly from local florists in the recipients' area, 100% of your money goes to the flowers being sent and everyone is happy. Just my 2 cents

I don't think I'd chance them again after that. That's really bad that they did that to your grandmother. Bummer.
