I have used 1-800-flowers.com many times to order flowers for different occasions. There are some really beautiful arrangements to choose from. The prices aren't that bad either. They run some pretty good sales fairly often.
The flowers have always been fresh and arranged beautifully, except for the last time I ordered from them. I especially love the birthday cake shaped flower arrangement. I have ordered this a few times and have gotten many compliments on it. I have also referred other people to the site just to order the birthday cake shaped arrangement.
The last order I placed with 1-800-flowers.com was for my grandmother. It was a surprise thank you for her. At the time they were running a deal on mini roses, buy a dozen get a dozen free. That sounded perfect! A dozen free flowers, what a wonderful deal. Who wouldn't love to get TWO dozens roses, and as a surprise! My grandmother called when immediately after they were delivered. She was overjoyed and very surprised! The only problem was that half of the flowers were almost dead. I know I got a dozen free, but I had no idea that would mean they would also be half dead! I contacted the website and was told they'd send out two dozen FRESH flowers for the inconvenience. I thought that was a nice gesture. My grandmother was excited that she'd get even more flowers. She said she'd probably have to start giving them away because her house would be filled with all of these mini roses. The next problem: The replacement roses never came. I originally had them delivered to my grandmother at work, knowing there would be someone there at all times to be able to accept the delivery. I emailed them again and never received a reply. I called and was told they didn't have record that a replacement was to be sent out. By that time I was pretty embarrassed that my grandmother had gotten half-dead flowers and then she waited for live ones that never came. I was told there was nothing they could do because it had been about a month and since they didn't have record that a replacement was to be sent, I wasn't eligible for a refund.
Maybe this was a one-time misunderstanding, but I haven't ordered from them since. That was probably close to a year ago. I will probably try them again in the future, when I need to have flowers delivered, but will be really hesitant to do so.
